If you are looking to rent a flat in Manchester city centre, or even rent an apartment along the canal front, here is a brief guide to the city. The city centre itself has approximately 15,000 inhabitants, with an array of shopping centres from the Arndale Shopping Centre to the boutiques and high end clothes shopping outlets in King Street, as well as a thriving cafe and bar scene, a lively night life and plenty of tourist attractions. Manchester has a capital city feel to it. The buildings are a mix of old and new, some are centuries old, such as the Town Hall and others are ultra modern, like the new Hilton Tower. The city is divided into squares and quarters with parks and public spaces interspersed between. There is a superb transport network in the form of trams and shuttle buses. Music is a big part of what makes the city tick, having been the home of such bands as Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Smiths, New Order and Oasis. There are also a vast number of music venues such as the Manchester Apollo and the Manchester Evening News Arena (MEN Arena). The main area for socialising in the city centre is Deans-gate, a road that runs the whole length of the city. It has a happy mixture of shops, offices, apartments, bars and cafes. The majority of accommodation in this area comes in the form of upmarket apartment blocks, such as No1 Deansgate, Beetham Tower, City Gate, Ropeworks, Century Buildings, and The Quadrangle as well as many other developments. Even the former night club, The Hacienda, has now been converted into luxury flats and penthouses.
