Salford Quays is located to the south of Salford and on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Once well known for its industry, nowadays however, after extensive regeneration in the area spanning nearly two decades, the warehouses have been renovated or knocked down and replaced with state of the art apartment blocks and office space. The area is linked to Trafford, the home of Manchester United Football Club, by the Lowry footbridge, and houses such attractions as The Imperial War Museum, The Lowry Museum and is close to the Lowry Outlet Village. There is also a centre that offers water sport activities such as canoeing, kayaking, power boating and wind surfing. A few radio stations have made Salford Quays their home, such as Century FM, and it is proposed that the BBC are to bring their offices to the area by 2011, from London. Salford Quays has its fair share of bars and restaurants, as well as coffee shops, and the canal is ideal for walking and jogging along the waterside. If you are thinking about renting an apartment in Salford Quays or letting a flat, the area is most suitable for couples and young professionals. Transport is at its best in Salford Quays as the Eccles branch of the Metrolink Tram runs along Salford Quays. In addition there is a regular bus service into the city.
