Fallowfield has an array of nearby facilities. Wilmslow Road, which runs through the centre, has a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and shops. On Platt Lane, there are small local shops, however, there is also a Sainsbury's to the South East and an Asda to the North West. There is also a market which has a selection of craft stalls and vendors selling different food stuffs and Fallowfield also benefits from a local library and park. Buses run regularly along Princess Road which take you right into the city of Manchester or to Manchester Airport. The city centre is only a couple of minutes journey away and buses running along Wilbraham Road take you to the restaurants and bars in nearby trendy Chorlton and Withington. There is a leisure centre that offers locals gym facilities and indoor and outdoor football pitches with additional sports halls, squash courts and swimming pools nearby. Platt Fields Park offers locals four bowling greens, a boating lake, football pitch, angling and tennis courts. Fallowfield is also the home of Manchester Costume Museum and Platt Hall, with its orchard and formal gardens. The Platt Lane Community Centre provides facilities such as social events, a coffee lounge, lunch club, youth club and a creche. The development of Fallowfield is set to continue with the former ground of Manchester City Football Club being converted into a new "urban village" with 300 upmarket homes ranging from flats and apartments, to large family houses.
