The Heatons are made up of four different areas, Heaton Moor, Heaton Chapel, Heaton Norris and Heaton Mersey. The geography of the area is quite flat and was historically a peat moor. The area offers a variety of local shops on Heaton Moor Road with attractive glass and cast iron awnings. Heaton Chapel has several pubs along with cafes and bars. The main area for socialising is Shaw Road in Heaton Moor, where you can find a number of restaurants including Asian, Italian, Spanish and Chinese plus a delicatessen that offers a wide selection of food. Heaton Moor has a Rugby Club, which offers a range of sports besides rugby including tennis, cricket and lacrosse. There are also four churches in the Heatons. Tithe Barn Primary School can be found in Heaton Moor, in addition to this, there is a secondary school which has disabled facilities and Stockport College on Buckingham Road in Heaton Moor. If you are thinking of renting a property in Heaton Moor, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Chapel and Heaton Norris, the properties are typically large flats in period conversions with gardens. Trains can be caught at Heaton Chapel Station which serves the four Heaton villages, and is just over 4.5 miles from Manchester Piccadilly. There are excellent road and rail links with frequent buses to nearby Stockport centre as well as trains that can be taken to Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly which takes approximately 20 minutes. There are five local bus routes into Manchester city centre and the surrounding areas.
