Liverpool, named City of Culture for 2008, is a wonderful city with a centre that has recently undergone a massive regeneration with the new shopping centre Liverpool One and a range of apartment blocks built along the river, adding to the skyline of the city.

The city centre has a superb transport system that links it to the rest of the region, be it by train with links to London, or to local areas. There is an extensive bus service which takes you to all areas of the city. There is a ferry service, made famous by the song 'Ferry Across The Mersey', with regular services to Birkenhead and Wallasey. There is also an airport, John Lennon Airport, just outside the city, which is one of the UK's fastest growing airports.

If you are looking to rent an apartment in Liverpool or are looking for a flat to let in Liverpool, here is a brief guide to the different areas of the city:

Kings Waterfront & Docklands

There is a great mix of office space, housing, hotel accommodation and tourist attractions. There has been significant development in this area recently, including the new Liverpool Arena and Conference Centre. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the area, with the city centre shops only a short walk away. There are apartments available in converted waterfront warehouses as well as new build apartment blocks.

Retail District

Situated right in the centre of the city and stretching from Hanover Street to Victoria Street. The area has an abundance of shops, bars and restaurants, with a few residential options. For accommodation, there are flat conversions in a few of the superb period properties located on Victoria Street, and in recent years there have been various new apartment blocks incorporated into the new development of Liverpool One.

Business Quarter

This area covers Water Street, Castle Street and Exchange Square, then over to Tithebarn Street, and Dale Street. The area is predominantly office space with a few shops, cafes and bars. For accommodation, there are several modern apartment blocks as well as some period conversions to upmarket flats.
