Salford Quays is located to the south of Salford and on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Once well-known for its industry, nowadays however, after extensive regeneration in the area spanning nearly two decades, the warehouses have been renovated or knocked down and replaced with state of the art office space, apartment blocks, plus flats to rent in Salford.
The area is linked to Trafford - the home of Manchester United Football Club - by the Lowry footbridge, and houses such attractions as The Imperial War Museum, The Lowry Museum and is close to the Lowry Outlet Village. There is also a centre that offers water sport activities such as canoeing, kayaking, power boating and wind surfing.
A few radio stations have made The Quays their home, and with the BBC having also now moved to the specially-built MediaCityUK from London, as far as media and entertainment goes this creative and digital hub is certainly the place to work, live and play. Salford Quays also has its fair share of bars and restaurants, as well as coffee shops, and the canal is ideal for walking and jogging along the waterside.
